Relief for a Burdened Heart

This is the first blog of my new website and I am excited about it. I will use these blogs to tell stories, and to share insights about health, homeopathy, and nature with you. Why do I include nature? Because homeopathic remedies come from nature. In homeopathy, we allow the outside nature to heal our inner nature. Homeopathy is one way to experience our connection to nature.

Let me tell you a story. A few months ago, a 70-year-old Native woman asked me for a treatment for her congestive heart failure.
I took her case and learned that she’d had an extremely painful childhood, which left deep scars in her soul. Based on the whole picture, both the physical problems and the past emotional trauma, I prescribed a homeopathic remedy for her to take. When I saw her again four weeks later, I asked her how she was doing, expecting that she would tell me something about her heart. To my surprise, the first thing she told me was this:

“I am doing very well. For the first time in my life I could think of my mother with compassion and without hatred.”

Her husband, sitting next to her, added: “This is big. She had been struggling with that for as long as I have known her.”

In that moment, I knew that the treatment was going well, because the biggest burden that this heart had to carry was the old grief from childhood. After this relief, her physical heart improved also; she lost weight and the edema was slowly diminishing.

“My appetite shifted also. I used to feel never full when I was eating. I had to watch my husband to know when to stop eating. Now I have a sense of enough, I feel a satisfaction. I am definitely eating less.” Being heavily overweight, this was a very important change for her.

What this story clearly shows is how interconnected our physical body and soul are. It is impossible to separate one from the other. A homeopathic treatment acts on all levels, on the physical, the emotional, the mental, and the spiritual level of our being. This is what we mean when we say that homeopathy is based on a holistic approach. We do not treat a heart failure without treating what made this heart fail. All parts of our body are intricately interwoven. The whole person is being considered. During a homeopathic treatment it is not only the main complaint that is being healed – the whole person is being treated; the whole person improves. For me as a homeopath, it is a great blessing to experience this over and over again.
What are the chances that after many decades an old wound in our soul all of a sudden starts to heal?

Others call it miracles, I call it homeopathy.
